Player Waiver, Risk Acknowledgement & Participation Agreement

By registering for and participating in The Padel League ("PL"), I confirm that I am voluntarily participating in a competitive padel competition conducted at participating clubs and venues.

I understand that padel is a physical sporting activity and that participation involves physical exertion, rapid movement, changes of direction, contact with the ball, racket, court surfaces, walls, glass, fencing, equipment and other players.

I acknowledge that participation in padel and PL competition carries inherent and obvious risks of injury.

These risks may include, without limitation:

• slips, trips and falls
• muscle strains, sprains and ligament injuries
• knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and back injuries
• impact from padel balls or rackets
• collision or contact with other players, walls, glass, fencing or court structures
• cuts, bruises and fractures
• aggravation of pre-existing injuries or medical conditions
• dehydration, fatigue, heat-related illness or other physical distress
• serious injury and, in rare circumstances, permanent injury or death

I understand that not every possible risk can be identified in advance.

I confirm that I am responsible for determining whether I am physically and medically fit to participate.

I agree not to participate if I am injured, unwell, medically unable to safely participate, or if participation would place me or another person at unreasonable risk.

Where appropriate, I will seek medical advice before participating.

I voluntarily accept the risks associated with participating in PL matches, training, warm-ups and related competition activities.

I understand that PL, participating clubs, venue operators, officials, staff and contractors cannot eliminate all risks associated with sporting participation.

I agree to comply with:

• the PL Official Competition Rule Book
• reasonable directions from PL officials and participating clubs
• venue safety requirements
• court and equipment rules
• all applicable codes of conduct and competition requirements

I understand that failure to follow these requirements may result in suspension, removal from a match or competition, or other disciplinary action under PL rules.

I am responsible for:

• using appropriate footwear and equipment
• warming up appropriately
• managing my own physical limitations
• immediately stopping participation if I believe continuing is unsafe
• notifying relevant staff or officials of hazards that I become aware of
• taking reasonable care for my own safety and the safety of others

Padel is a recreational sporting activity involving physical exertion and risk of physical injury.

By participating in PL, I acknowledge that I may be exposed to risks associated with this recreational activity and that some of those risks may result in injury.

I participate voluntarily and at my own risk, subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I acknowledge and agree that PL and its officers, employees, contractors, volunteers and representatives will not be liable for loss, damage or injury arising from risks inherent in or ordinarily associated with participation in PL recreational sporting activities.

Nothing in this waiver excludes, restricts or modifies any right, guarantee or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law.

I acknowledge that PL matches are conducted at independently operated partner clubs and venues.

I agree to comply with any additional lawful venue conditions, safety requirements or participation waivers imposed by the relevant venue.

This PL waiver does not replace any separate conditions that a participating club or venue may require.

If I suffer an injury or medical emergency during a PL activity, I authorise reasonable first aid or emergency assistance to be arranged where necessary.

I understand that I remain responsible for my own medical, ambulance, hospital and related costs except where the law provides otherwise.

I understand that PL does not represent that personal accident, health or income protection insurance is provided to me unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.

I am responsible for considering whether I require my own insurance cover.

By ticking the Player Waiver checkbox during registration, I confirm that:

• I have read and understood this Player Waiver, Risk Acknowledgement & Participation Agreement
• I understand the nature and risks of participating in padel
• I voluntarily accept those risks
• I agree to comply with PL rules and reasonable safety directions
• I am participating voluntarily
